Equatio FAQ

Equatio FAQ

FAQ

Got a question that you think should be part of the FAQ?
Contact an AT team member and let them know.
  • What is Equatio?

Equatio is a robust toolset best utilized on a Chromebook, or in a Chrome browser.  Equatio is a similar tool to Read&Write, but it functions in the language of math.  For instance if you use R&W and say "two plus two equals four" it will type that exactly.  In Equatio the same thought would be presented as 2+2=4.

  • Who is eligible for Equatio?

Any student on an IEP or 504 can receive Equatio from AT.  Being evaluated for either of those documents does qualify the student for AT. Staff members can receive a free copy of Equatio following this link: Free R&W for Teachers

Make sure to use your @dpsk12.net credential, not the .org.

  • Do I have to request Equatio one license at a time?

No.  You can request up to 10 licenses at a time using the "Just requesting Read & Write" portion of the AT Request form.

  • Where is your main office?

780 Grant St across from the Governor's Mansion.  Street parking available, no reserve parking available.  Sorry for the inconvience.

  • Are there other solutions for the same accommodations that Read & Write supports?

Good question!  Yes, there are other supports available.  The C-Pen and Clicker 7 are popular supports that overlap with Equatio.  You can learn more on their specific pages, or contact an AT staff member to help ensure the student receives the correct piece of AT for their needs.

  • Does Equatio work on non-AT devices?

Yes! Equatio is connected to the students @dpsk12.net credential.  Any machine they login to with that credential the Read & Write license will follow them.

  • What tools does Equatio have?

Speech to text in the language of Math, Formula prediction, similar to word prediction, but for Math, and graphing supports.  There is also a Mathspace section that contains virtual manipulatives, and the ability to creat and share lessons. Have more questions visit our Video Support Page.

  • How does Equatio work in Charter schools?

The same as long as students are using their @dpsk12.net credentials.

  • Can I request Equatio with other supports, or do I have to choose?

Yes! Equatio can be paired with other AT to fully support the students' learning needs.
