FAQ

Got a question that you think should be part of the FAQ?
Contact an AT team member and let them know.
  • What is Muse?

Muse is a Biofeedback device that helps the student find calm.  The Muse device uses the biofeedback mechanism, in conjunction with an iPad app, to give the student real time feedback about their level of agitation.

  • How do I use Muse?

The Muse is best used one on one with a student, for 3-5 minute sessions.  The Muse app will catalogue and track data about each student session so it can be viewed over time.  It will allow the student to develop a self referential point for what calm is, so in the middle of a crisis, the staff member can reference, "Be calm like when you use the Muse."

  • Who is eligible for Muse?

Any student on an IEP or 504 can receive aMuse from AT.  Being evaluated for either of those documents does qualify the student for AT.

  • Do I have to request one Muse for each student?

No.  Typically one Muse can service multiple students in small group or pull out instruction.

  • Where is your main office?

780 Grant St across from the Governor's Mansion.  Street parking available, no reserve parking available.  Sorry for the inconvience.

  • Are there other solutions for the same accommodations that Read & Write supports?

Good question!  Yes, there are other supports available.  The Pip and Revibe are similar biofeedback devices.  You can learn more on their specific pages, or contact an AT staff member to help ensure the student receives the correct piece of AT for their needs.

  • Does Muse App work on non-AT devices?

No.  Unfortunatley we can only load apps onto AT iPads, but we have plenty so please do not let this be a barrier.

  • What type of Biofeedback does Muse use?

Muse can use ECG, brainwave, breathing, heartrate, and Galvanic response, to measure agitation levels in the student.

  • Does Muse work in Charter schools?

Yes.  Muse will work in any school enviroment, and can be requested from AT, for any DPS affiliated school.

  • Can I request Muse with other supports, or do I have to choose?

Yes. The Muse can be part of multiple pieces of AT being used to help the student with social/emotional needs.
